The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival was the site of the 1989 Meters reunion, which in turned yielded the funky Meters. So it makes sense that Jazz Fest is also the setting for the groups first DVD with Funky Meters: Live From the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival slated for a January 25 release. Meanwhile, three members of the group just wrapped up their PBS tour, while George Porter Jr,. continues his Thursday residency at the Maple Leaf in New Orleans and Russell Batiste, is out with Papa Grows Funk.
