Grateful Dead Hour host-cum-performer David Gans spent the weekend performing throughout California, making stops in Mill Valley, McKinleyville, Mt. Shasta City and Sebastopol along the way. Backed by an all-stand band, which included drummer Adam Perry, pedal steel guitarist Barry Sless, Zen Tricksters bassist Klyph Black and keyboardist Rob Barraco, Gans ran through Dead staples and solo material, ranging from ‘Candyman’ to ‘Mr. Charlie.’ On Thursday evening, Chris and Lorin Rowan also joined the quintet for a run through ‘Crazy, Crazy,Crazy,’ while David Nelson sat in for Sless throughout Gans’ entire Sunday performance in Sebastopol. Gans next performance is May 12 at Berkley, CA’s the Ashkenaz . He can also be seen in the June issue of Relix, hitting newsstands June 5.
