Four years John Medeski set out to produce a record by Robert Randolph, a project which morphed into a release from The Word (which also featured the North Mississippi Allstars). Recently the MMW keyboardist entered the studio to record Randolphs progenitors in the Scared Steel tradition, The Campbell Brothers. Can You Feel It? is the aptly named title of the disc which features Medeski on organ along with Chuck Campell on pedal steel, Darick Campbell on lap steel and Phil Campbell on guitar as well as Phils son Carlton on drums. The release draws on the sprit of the music that the group creates within the House of God church. Medeski will perform three northeast gigs with the Campbell Brothers on June 13-15 and just prior to those shows will reunite with the Word for a performance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival.
