After a few years in hibernation, Jazz is Dead will return to the road to reinterpret the Grateful Deads Blues for Allah in March. In addition to founding member T Lavitz, this new incarnation of Jazz is Dead will feature guitarist Jeff Pevar (Crosby, Stills & Nash/Phil & Friends), drummer Jeff Sipe (Phil & Friends/Aquarium Rescue Unit), bassist Dave Livolsi (John Scofield Band/Tower of Power) and organist Tom Constanten . As of press time, Jazz is Dead has confirmed a handful of east coast shows, including appearances at New Haven, CTs Toads Place (3/9) and Jim Thorpe, PAs Penn’s Peak (3/18). In addition, the group will venture into the Midwest for yet-to-be-confirmed performances in Cleveland and Detroit. Over the years a number of high-profile players have come through Jazz is Deads ranks including Jimmy Herring and Alphonso Johnson.
