Last month the Derek Trucks Band solicited suggestions for a song to perform on New Years eve. The call went out for a cover or an older tune that the group hadnt performed in some time. The five most popular suggestions offer a bit of both, including the DTBs Kickin Back along with four signature songs associated with other artists: Will it Go ‘Round In Circles (Billy Preston), Respect (Otis Redding/Aretha Franklin), I Want to Take You Higher (Sly & The Family Stone) and Only You Know and I Know (Delaney & Bonnie and Friends). Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorite and the group will perform the top pick at its NYE performance at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. The group adds, Don’t be surprised if you end up hearing one of your other submissions not included on this list played as well.
