Page McConnell is now a few shows into his first extended tour with his current band. Much of the material he has been offering with the quintet focuses on his current self-titled release. However, he also has introduced some covers, such as Bunny Wailers Walk the Proud Land and Stealers Wheels ‘Stuck in the Middle With You’ (Quentin Tarantino offered up an earful of the latter tune in Reservoir Dogs). In addition, he has been drawing on a couple of songs from his Phish career and on Friday night in Providence, he offered an additional nod to his longtime band by bringing out a member of Phishs Giant Country Horns. Carl Gerhard stepped out for the version of Cars Trucks Buses that closed out the set at Luposs. This evening, McConnell and his group are in New York City at Irving Plaza.
