Last night, Ryan Adams celebrated the release of his ninth album, Easy Tiger, with an intimate, industry-heavy acoustic show at New Yorks Hiro Ballroom. Adams is known for his erratic performances, but appeared in fine form last night, mixing Easy Tiger material like The Sun also Sets, Two and Halloween Head with recent Cold Roses classics such as Let it Ride and rarities like Blue Hotel, which Adams penned for Willie Nelsons recent Songbird album (Adams produced the disc which features his backing band the Cardinals). In a surprise twist, the dapper singer/songwriter performed in sunglasses, but without his guitar, leaving instrumental duties to the Cardinals and Easy Tiger producer/pianist Jamie Candiloro . In light of a recent New York Times article written by longtime Relix contributor Anthony DeCurits, Adams joked about his sobriety and showed off his Diet Coke. He also gave a shout out to current gf, while his ex-celebrity gf, Parker Posey, watched from the audience. The night ended with a surprisingly subdued cover of Alice in Chains Down In A Hole. Adams will perform at Philadelphias Theatre of the Living Arts tomorrow.
