Guster will play its first show since January at a Barack Obama benefit on October 7. The group has spent most of the year off the road working on a new studio album and focusing on their families (the three founding members of the group celebrated the births of their first children this year). The benefit will take place at Brooklyn, NY’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, featuring appearances by Andrew Bird, Eugene Mirman, The Fiery Furnaces, Kumail Nanjiani, Alina Simone, Heather Lawless, Lizz Winstead, Martin Bisi, John Roberts and Adira Amram. A number of special guests are also expected to perform throughout the night. The show will likely be Guster’s only appearance before 2009.
