In 2005 David Nelson Band bassist Bill Laymon contracted the tropical disease typhus while living in Hawaii. Due to a weakened immune system that resulted from the Typhus, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Laymon is now cancer free, however like many musicians he has no health insurance and his medical bills mounted. In an effort to defray these costs, a number of his friends are appearing together this Sunday at the Throckmorton Theatre in the Mill Valley, CA. The Benefit concert will feature David Nelson and Friends with Nelson, Barry Sless, Pete Sears, John Molo and Mookie Siegel. The night also will include a set from the original David Nelson Band with Laymon and drummer Arthur Steinhorn.
