In addition to our prior report from last night’s show in Dallas, the two Jammy Award co-hosts hit the McDowell Mountain Music Festival over the past weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona. Grace Potter on vocals and band mate, Nocturnal guitarist Scott Tournet, joined Warren Haynes and Govt Mule for their headlining set on Friday night with a rather rousing rendition of Al Greens Take Me to the River. Later in the evening, during the encore, Robert Randolph, who earlier played his own incendiary 90-minute set with the Family Band to an enthusiastic desert crowd, sat in with the Mule on pedal steel guitar on a great extended version of Soulshine. Toubab Krewe, The Wailers, Blues Traveler and the John Butler Trio offered their own 90-minute sets on Saturday to close out the two-day festival. Report by Randy Ray
