Jeff Coffin most likely scored some new fans at Bonnaroo last Friday thanks to his high-profile sit ins with My Morning Jacket and Umphreys McGee. On July 15, the Flecktones saxophonist will step out on his own with the latest release from his Mu’tet. Mutopia features Coffin on woodwinds, Felix Pastorius on electric bass, Kofi Burbridge on flute/keyboards and fellow Flecktone Futureman taking a rare turn behind an acoustic drum set. The disc is also loaded with cameos from the likes of Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Chris Walters, Joe Murphy, Rod McGaha, Black Cat Sylvester, R. Scott Bryan, Doug Belote, Alana Rocklin, Pat Bergeson, Barry Green and Roy Agee. Coffin will appear next at a NAMM event at Nashville, TNs 12 South Taproom this Saturday.
