On August 27, the night before Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Festival, Aspens Belly Up present an intriguing night of music billed as the 2008 New Orleans Traveling Road Show. The Voice of the Wetlands All Stars will headline the one time only show, bringing together Tab Benoit, George Porter Jr., Cyril Neville, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Johnny Vidacovich, Anders Osborne, Waylon Thibodeaux and Jumpin Johnny Sansone. Porter will also offer a set of music with Widespread Panics John JoJo Hermann, Walter Wolfman Washington and Henry Butler, as well as his Meters bandmates Zigaboo Modeliste and Leo Nocentelli. Other confirmed acts include New Orleans songstresses Lauren Barrett and Mary McBride, Aspen resident John Oates, the New Orleans Brass All-Stars with Joseph, Andres, Donald Harrison, Jr. and Trombone Shorty and an authentic second-line parade featuring the Soul Rebels Brass Band and the Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Indians. The pricey ticket will include an open bar and benefit the Friends of New Orleans and the Tipitinas Foundation. Hermann is in town for performances with Widespread Panic at Jazz Aspen Snowmass on August 24 and 25.
