On December 26, George Porter Jr. will celebrate his 61st birthday with a performance in his native New Orleans. This show at the Howlin’ Wolf will feature Porter’s group The Runnin’ Pardners along with additional guest players. This will be the bass player’s third scheduled show at the venue over the course of the month. On December 6, he will appear with PBS along with Papa Grows Funk keyboardist John Gros. Then on the 12th, Porter will join Stanton Moore, Rich Vogel and Johnny Vidacovich for a show as MVVP, on a bill with Russell Batiste and Friends. Meanwhile, Porter is currently traveling through Europe, with John Scofield and The Piety Street Band and he continues to offer up daily reports from his website.
