South Carolina-based Strange Design, which performs historical Phish shows in their entirety, has announced its Highway to Hampton Tour. These dates will celebrate the band’s forthcoming March return at the Hampton Coliseum, during two weeks of shows that will carry the group up to Phish’s longtime stomping grounds in New England. The tour opens tonight at the WorkPlay Theatre in Birmingham, AL and will wrap up the weekend prior to the Phish’s return at the 8 X 10 in Baltimore. Strange Design ‘strives to reconnect the dispersed Phish community by taking show requests from fans, accurately including all the extra-musical components that made Phish unique (trampolines, vacuum solos, choreographed dances, etc), traveling with a full light show, and recreating the energy, sound, and improvisational spirit of the different eras in Phish’s career.’
