Phish continued its Northeast run over the weekend and continued to drop in new material. On Friday night at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY it was the debut performance of ‘Twenty Years Later’ which the group had soundchecked on the previous evening. Then on Saturday at Mansfield, MA’s Great Woods (some might say Comcast Center) the band delivered its first-ever take on ‘Let Me Lie’ from Trey Anastasio’s Bar 17 release. Finally, last night at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, it was two new compositions: Mike Gordon’s ‘Sugar Shack,’ described via the Relix/Jambands.com Twitter as ‘very funky’ with ‘nice harmonies,’ as well as Anastasio’s new ballad, ‘Joy.’ In terms of the tour thus far, by many accounts, last’s night’s performance appears to be the standout (which holds promise for future shows as the group gains momentum). Phish is off this evening and then appears at the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville, NC on Tuesday.
