Howard Levy, the original fourth member of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones will tour with the group in November. Levy contributed both piano and harmonica to the Flecktones first three releases and toured with the band through 1992. Over the years Levy has recorded and appeared with Paul Simon, Bobby McFerrin, John Prine, Dolly Parton, Styx and many others. In 1999 he was part of the Stranger’s Hand project with Jerry Goodman, Steve Smith and Oteil Burbridge. Meanwhile Jeff Coffin, will be off until December (presumably he will be gigging with Dave Matthews Band) and then he’ll be back for a series of holiday shows with the Flecktones.
