Reid Genauer—guitarist, singer-songwriter, and frontman of Strangefolk and Assembly of Dust—will celebrate the release of his new album, Conspire to Smile, with a short run of tour dates as Reid Genauer & Folks, with musicians who appear on the record and more.
Conspire to Smile is available on streaming services now and features 11 covers of artists that range from Marvin Gaye to Woody Guthrie to The Beatles, plus two original tunes. Genauer tapped over two-dozen musicians for the project, including Scott Metzger, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Jennifer Hartswick, Jason Crosby, Grahame Lesh, Alex Koford, Elliott Peck, Ryan Montbleau, Peter Levin and more.
In support of the album, Genauer is hitting the road with guitarists Metzger and Lebowitz, Mother Hips keyboardist Danny Eisenberg and Assembly of Dust’s rhythm section of bassist John Leccese and drummer Dave Diamond. The group will play two shows later this month in California before moving the show to Boston and Brooklyn in late March.
