Last night, Thursday, April 11, brought their Why We Dance Tour to The Orange Peel in Asheville, N.C. The event yielded non-stop jams, capturing the synergy between players and their subconscious sonic connection, which permeated choice numbers, shining the light on the interconnectedness of this group of artists. The night’s performance included a bust out during the first half of the concert and, later, an instrumental switch-up stemming from technical difficulties.

The evening picked up with an oldie but a goodie, the 1999 Wetlands Preserve debut “House Dog Party Favor,” which ran over into the ensuing number and frequently played “Who’s in Charge.” Serving as the band’s lone bust out, they blew off the dust to unveil “Pat and Dex,” a rare play in recent years. Notably, the last time Disco Biscuits performed the song was on Nov. 26, 2021. For the final song of the initial set, the band clicked into “Spacebirdmatingcall,” which led to the night’s set break.

Disco Biscuits returned to the stage, starting the latter portion of the evening with “Shocked,” featuring samples of Hall & Oates’ “Maneater.” Without stopping, they merged into
“Shadow,” before accentuating a techno-lean during “Spaga.” The band stretched and segued their selects, eventually going with an inverted “And the Ladies Were the Rest of the Night.”

Technical difficulties resulted in an instrumental switch-up during “Down to the Bottom,” where Marc Brownstein was on the keys, and Aron Magner was on vocals to finish the set closer. For the evening’s encore, the trance-fusion jammers closed the show after “Highwire.” With another night on the books, The Disco Biscuits will show up at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville tonight, April 12. Tickets remain on sale.
