Randall Bramblett and The Mega-Blasters horn section will once again sit in with Widespread Panic on New Years Eve. The Georgia jamband icons confirmed the news on their Facebook page earlier this week. Widespread Panic will close the year at Atlanta, GA’s Fox Theatre from December 29-31. The stretch of shows is their first proper headlining gigs at the intimate Fox since their 25th anniversary celebration in early 2011.
Bramblett—a longtime Allman Brothers family associate who played in Sea Level and Traffic—first performed with Panic at Atlanta, GA’s Fox Theatre on July 2, 1998 and has sat in with the group dozens of times over the years. He performed with Panic at Atlanta’s Philips Arena on December 31 2002 and 2003 and has remained a mainstay during their Southeast New Year’s Eve performances since 2009. He introduced The MegaBlasters during two shows at Atlanta, GA’s Lakewood Amphitheater in 2008 and has used the horn section during his big Panic sit ins over the past seven years.
