Jimmy Herring took the stage with Gregg Allman last night during the second show of his run at Athens, GA’s Georgia Theatre. The Widespread Panic guitarist, who frequently collaborated with the Allman Brothers Band and even toured as a member in 2000, made his appearance on the Willie Cobbs blues classic “You Don’t Love Me.”
As previously reported, the Allman Brothers Band disbanded after 45 years this past October following a farewell run at New York City’s Beacon Theatre. Gregg is now on the road with a new solo band that includes guitarist Scott Sharrard, keyboardist Peter Levin, drummer Steve Potts, ABB percussionist Marc Quinones and bassist Ron Johnson, as well as horn players Jay Collins, Art Edmaiston and Marc Franklin.
Gregg and his band will head to the Allman Brothers Band’s hometown of Macon, GA for a two-night run at the Grand Opera House this Friday, January 9 and Saturday, January 10.
