CBGB Music & Film Festival will be opening their 5 day festival with the film premiere of CBGB on October 9. Directed by Randall Miller, the film explores the beginnings of the US punk movement and focuses on the famous club, and it namesake, CBGB. Founded 40 years ago in New York City’s Bowery neighborhood, CBGB, or Country, Blue Grass, & Blues, was accredited as a birthplace of American indie and punk rock.

The CBGB Music & Film Festival will premiere 40 movie titles. There will be longer independent films like Louder than Love: The Grand Ballroom Story, which explores the Detroit music scene, as well as shorter films from around the globe. In addition to the numerous music films, the festival will also include Q&A sessions with directors, producers and/or actors.

The CBGB Music & Film Festival will take place October 9-13 in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Film submission will be accepted until September 1.
