Dave Matthews Band headlined a two-show stand at Mansfield, MA’s Comcast Center this weekend. Both nights featured some special surprises.
On Friday night, Dave Matthews Band busted out their first cover of the country classic “Long Black Veil” since November 20, 2010. They also performed Boyd Tinsley’s “True Reflections,” the rare song the fiddler sings lead vocals on with Dave Matthews Band, for the first time since July 29, 2003. Tinsley wore a Boston Strong shirt throughout the performance.
Last night, the group invited out Bela Fleck & the Flecktones bassist Victor Wooten for a take on “#41.” The sit in was a Flecktones reunion of sorts since Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin is currently a touring member of Dave Matthews Band. Perhaps as a nod to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, who headlined Bonnaroo last night, they also covered “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” a song they debuted earlier this spring.
Dave Matthews Band will perform at Noblesville, IN’s Klipsch Music Center on June 21.
