David Byrne will release his new studio album American Utopia on March 9, just a few days after kicking off his world tour in support of the effort, and the former Talking Heads frontman has revealed the opening acts that will be joining him along the way.
Set to open throughout the tour are Perfume Genius, Juana Molina, Ibeyi, Laura Mvula, Benjamin Clementine, Karina Zeviani, Lisandro Aristimuño and Mexico Institute of Sound.
Byrne announced the openers and shared some thoughts via his Twitter, including praising Perfume Genius’ Mike Hadreas’ music and style: “Perfume Genius’s gorgeous songs are filled with unexpected sounds and deeply personal—and his costumes would have made Bowie jealous. I am looking forward to sharing the stage with Mike.”
