Legendary punk rockers the Ramones will celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic self-titled album this year with an expansive rerelease that will feature remastered tracks, a new mono mix of the entire album, plenty of demos and outtakes and live recordings of two of the band’s concerts.

The release was overseen by the original album’s producer, Craig Leon, who, as Rolling Stone notes, said that their idea with the album was to make both a stereo and mono version. “I’m thrilled that now, 40 years later, we followed through on that original idea,” he says.

The three-CD/one-LP collection features the remastered stereo version on the first disc, 18 tracks of demos and unreleased material on the second and a third disc containing two live concerts from the Roxy in West Hollywood in August of 1976. The LP holds the anniversary mono version of the record. The deluxe edition of the set, of which there will only be 19,760 made, also comes with a book containing Leon’s production notes plus an essay and photos.
