Joss Stone is the latest addition to HeadCounts pre-election Get Out the Vote Party. As previously reported, the non-profit organization will host a party at New Yorks Highline Ballroom on November 3, the night before the 2008 general elections. Stone joins an already impressive mix of musicians, including Robert Randolph, ?uestlove, Stanton Moore, The Benevento-Russo Duo and The Disco Biscuits Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner, among others. RANA/American Babies guitarist Scott Metzger has been named the evenings musical director and will perform with a number of the evenings entertainers.
Stone will offer a number of songs, including the new composition Governmentalist.
The song is also available for free download at both www.HeadCount.org and www.JossStone.com. The track is also slated to appear on Stones next album, which will hit stores next year.
The U.S. election really does impact the entire world, Stone said in a statement. While
I cant vote in this country, I want to do what I can to inspire others, especially young voters, to make their voices heard. I can’t think of a better way to release
‘Governmentalist’ than to partner with a group like HeadCount that actively encourages voting.’
We’re excited to welcome Joss to the long list of musicians whove become
involved with HeadCount, said HeadCount co-chair Marc Brownstein. Speaking for myself and all the other musicians who are performing, I can tell you were all excited about sharing the stage with Joss.
The concert will be the final event of HeadCounts year-long campaign to
mobilize young voters. The entire evening will also be webcast through iclips.net.
