Today, Khruangbin announced their plans to close out their year-long live album project with the final inclusion, Khruangbin: Live at Sydney Opera House, a double LP comprised of live material recorded at the Sydney Oprea House in 2022, and due out on December 1 via Dead Oceans, in partnership with Night Time Stories Ltd. As a preview of the impending set, the Houston trio delivered “People Everywhere (Shifting Sands Remix),” their fresh take on The Universe Smiles Upon You classic.
The Australian chapter, the group’s latest effort, bookends the year-long process of turning out recordings of live performances that aim to capture their collective instrument prowess, improvisation skills, and highly sought-after setlists. The LP captures Khruangbin’s debut solo performances at the famed Opera House in November 2022, which consisted of a three-night sold-out run, cementing their international prestige.
The double LP follows four live albums from the band released earlier this year with guests including Kelly Doyle, Ruben Moreno, The Suffers, and Robert Ellis from Austin, Texas’ Stubb’s, Nubya Garcia at NYC’s Radio City, Men I Trust at RBC Echo Beach in Toronto and Toro y Moi at The Fillmore, Miami. Their latest set includes selections from their career-spanning archive, such as A Calf Born in Winter,” “Maria También,” “So We Won’t Forget,” “Shida,” and “Friday Morning.”
