Last night, Goose rolled into Columbia, OH’s Kemba Live! Outdoors. The Connecticut combo kicked things off with a take on Wes Montgomery’s “Switchin'” and the original “Honeybee,” which, as it often does, featured crew member and group co-founder Jon “Coach” Lombardi on rainstrick.
However, the the night’s biggest surprise took place at the end of the first set when Goose busted out the Monroe Brothers’ “Rosa Lee McFall” for the first time since August 8, 2019. The group’s 2019 performance of the tune at Ferbdale, MI’s Otus Supply is their only other known cover of the live favorite. While written by Charlie Monroe, many fans likely know the song thanks to the Grateful Dead, who covered it during their acoustic sets in 1970 and 1980 and included the track on their live album Reckoning. Jerry Garcia also covered the number with the Black Mountain Boys and Jerry Garcia Band.
Goose will perform at Peach Music Festival tomorrow.
