On June 25, Sir Elton John continued his final tour, fittingly dubbed Farewell Yellow Brick Road, by stopping at the Glastonbury Music Festival for a Sunday set. The gig represented the last time the esteemed musician would perform in his native country after announcing his final run of dates. During the concert, the veteran performer treated the audience to a plethora of fan favorites, as well as some rarities.

To start the night, John dusted off a cover of The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” for the first time since 2009. He followed up with “The Bitch Is Back” and a crowd-rousing “Bennie and the Jets” before sprinkling in added tunes, such as the tour’s namesake, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” During the night’s rendition of “Are You Ready for Love,” guests, including Jabon Lusk and the London Community Gospel Choir, arrived. The tune also represented a bust out, last performed on June 24, 2014.

The choir stuck around and assisted on the ensuing “Sad Songs (Say So Much).” Then, John delivered “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” before bringing another young artist to the stage, Stephen Sanchez, who helped with his original composition, “Until I Found You.” As the set continued, John welcomed Bradon Flowers of The Killers to cut into fan favorite “Tiny Dancer.” A final guest turned up for “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” Rina Sawayama, who embodied KiKi Dee during the ‘70s staple.

After sharing the stage with familiar faces, John ran through a series of final songs sans guests. Amongst the numbers were “Crocodile Rock,” “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting,” “I’m Still Standing,” and “Cold Heart,” before taking the time to pay respects to George Michael on what would have been his 60th birthday. John dedicated “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down on Me” to Michael before closing out the night with a classic “Rocket Man” with an extended outro.

Following John’s final stand in the U.K., he will continue through Europe, closing the tour with one last concert on July 8 in Stockholm. For more information, visit eltonjohn.com
