Last night, music fans at the Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colo., were treated to the debut performance of Trey Anastasio Trio, arranged with drummer Jon Fishman and bassist Dezron Douglas. The show was marked by a series of debut performances and a selection of both solo Anastasio material and beloved Phish songs, delighting the enthusiastic crowd.

The evening kicked off with “Air Said to Me,” setting the tone for an evening of musical exploration., before they flowed into “…And Flew Away” and the trios debut of “Where They’ll Find Us.” The evening also saw live debuts of debuts of “Monsters,” “Oblivion,” “The Well” and “Ether Edge” in the second set, on each their chemistry and improvisational prowess as they weaved through the intricate melodies.

Notably, “The Greater Good” made an appearance during the show, creating a buzz among the attendees as the song was previously played only during the Beacon Jams on Oct. 16, 2020, and took on new life in the live setting. Fans were also thrilled to witness the trio’s debut rendition of “Halfway Home,” a song previously only performed by Ghosts of the Forest and Phish. The inclusion of this track added another layer of depth and diversity to the setlist, further demonstrating their versatility – which was stunted by some technical difficulties during set one closer, “Perseid,” but ultimately preserved and returned to close out the second set. Other highlights included some bust-outs, including “Air Said to Me,” which hadn’t been performed since Dec. 31, 2006, and “What’s Done,” last played on Feb. 28, 2010.

The evening’s mix of beloved Phish classics that bridged the gap between Trey Anastasio Band (TAB) and Phish were also on display, including crowd favorites “Sand,” “Back on the Train,” and the encore song “Ghost,” which filled the venue with electric energy, prompting enthusiastic sing-alongs and passionate dancing as did the song’s special twist on the lyrics were modified to mention Fish and Telluride, which creating a unique and memorable moment of connection that’s sure to last.

This show featured the debuts of Where They’ll Find Us, Perseid, Monsters, Oblivion, The Well, and Ether Edge, the first public performance of The Greater Good (which had previously been played on October 16, 2020 during the Beacon Jams), and the Trey Anastasio debut of Halfway Home (previously only performed by Ghosts of the Forest and Phish). The first Perseid was unfinished due to technical issues. Air Said To Me was performed for the first time since December 31, 2006. What’s Done was last played on February 28, 2010.
