Little Feat have announced plans to rerelease its two best-known albums, Sailin’ Shoes, and the 1973 follow-up, Dixie Chicken. The remastered music collections will drop on June 23 and come with previously unshared live and studio recordings, delivered in two-CD and three-LP formats this summer.
The newly remastered Sailin’ Shoes takes flight with signature tunes like “Easy To Slip,” the title track, and an updated version of “Willin’,” a song that also appeared in 1971 on the band’s eponymous debut. The LP also features alternate versions of “Cold, Cold, Cold” and “A Apolitical Blues.”
In addition to the aforementioned remastered LP, Little Feat’s newly announced package comes with a previously unreleased complete concert, which was recorded at the Palladium in Los Angeles on August 28, 1971, a performance that would have occurred prior to the release of their second studio album.
Elsewhere, Dixie Chicken presents the group’s classics like “Two Trains,” “Fat Man In The Bathtub,” and the title track. The newly revisited set presents alternate versions of “Roll Um Easy,” “On Your Way Down” and “Juliette.” The LP will arrive alongside a live concert recording from Paul’s Mall in Boston on March 1, 1973, and consists of songs from Dixie Chicken, “Two Trains” and “Walkin’ All Night,” and the band’s earlier albums, with tracks like “Willin’” and “Got No Shadow.”
The group’s favored music arrives alongside illustrated liner notes written by author Dennis McNally, who got his start as the Grateful Dead’s publicist. Moreover, Little Feat have also shared that they will support their newly remastered material on the road this fall. Visit the band’s website to learn more about impending tour stops.
