GoBigForHunger is a Maine-based charity founded in 2016 by lifelong live music lover and Maine native Greg Martens. He was inspired by Yoko Ono, Jerry Garcia and the Hard Rock Cafe’s Imagine There’s No Hunger global campaign. Since then, Martens has implemented his creative inclinations and ardent care on a local level to fight childhood hunger throughout his state. Go Big For Hunger is an all-volunteer effort and channels 100% of its efforts to frontline feeding efforts through the Maine-based Full Plates Full Potential.

“As we are all aware, any number of children living with hunger here in Maine or anywhere is unacceptable,” said Martens in a statement. “I started Go Big For Hunger to raise money to support Maine’s anti-hunger organization Full Plates Full Potential. Go Big raises money through concerts, and I appreciate my friends filling our stages and packing the house to enjoy the shows.”

Special guests for the gathering at the Portland House of Music (March 2), include local artists: Tom Faunce, Jenna Mammina, Charles Wigo IV, John Hanrahan, Jeff Glidden, Matt Day, Brian Graham, James Taylor, Chris Dow, Compton Maddux, Sam Whitman, Chris Coninis, Chip Sullivan, Treelock Wheelock, Dan Kelly, Rodney Sturdee, Marcus Kaplan, Marc Chillemi, Jeff Merrow, Tim Tyler, David Graham, and Michael Taylor.

While the performance the following evening at the Bayside Bowl (March 3) will welcome special guests the Beyond Description, members of Rustic Overtones, SeepeopleS, theWorst, Darby Sabin, Hambone, and Frank Bang 3, plus many others.

“March 2 and 3 will be great nights for live music in Portland, Maine. These musicians create works of art, not just concert experiences,” added Martens. “I have a long and, at times, storied music history, which includes accumulating treasured relationships with everyone on the lineup. I am lucky, and I take tremendous joy in creating and sharing the Go Big Jam with music lovers.”
