Today, Jan. 27, Bay Area collective Moonalice announced the release of their third studio album, Light Side of the Moonalice – An Acoustic Adventure, due out on Feb. 24 via Nettwerk. In addition to news of the impending drop, the band also shared their new single, “Arms Reach Out, “ listen now

The forthcoming collection was recorded in August 2022 with four-time GRAMMY award-winning engineer Dave Way (Fiona Apple, Pink, Norah Jones) and sees the 10-piece ensemble rework staples from their recent pair of EPs, Full Moonalice Vol. 1 and Full Moonalice Vol. 2, and includes takes on “Time Has Come Today” and “Love Peace & Happiness.”

“Arms Reach Out” also marks the first collaboration between the group and Nashville-based songwriter Dylan Altman. “Three of us (Chloe Tietjen, Erika Tietjen, and Dylan Altman) took what started as a seed of a song and worked together to flesh it out, adding verses and a bridge and really having fun playing with the breakdown,” the band shared via a press release. “We easily found a great flow and are looking forward to writing more songs together in the future.”

While the group is primarily known for its psych-soul approach, they also hold an extensive history of acoustic performances. Light Side of the Moonalice was inspired by a video the band ripped for Acoustic Guitar magazine, which featured live renditions of “Nick of Time” and “Woo Woo.” New studio recordings of both songs are a part of the forthcoming release.

“All of us in Moonalice are all folkies at heart,” said Roger McNamee. “We write our songs on acoustic instruments and it was fantastic to record them that way. The early feedback from fans has been gratifying. We may have to book some acoustic concert dates!”

Following the delivery of the impending LP, Moonalice will make a handful of live appearances beginning on April 20, when they’re billed to perform at 420 Gathering of The Tribe in San Francisco, followed by a set at Skull & Roses Festival on April 23. In addition, the band will also take the stage at BottleRocket Festival in Napa Valley, Calif., on May 26.
