Over the weekend, The Disco Biscuits took a stand at Boston’s House of Blues. The Saturday night performance represented a return for the group, who had not played a gig in Boston proper in approximately seven years. Last night’s show began with a bust-out cover of Frank Zappa’s “Pygmy Twylyte” before the group dug into a newer number, “Why We Dance,” which debuted during the band’s Halloween run on Oct. 30 at The Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, Va. Later, during the second set, the group delivered a debut of a new number, “To Be Continued.”

After kicking off the show with Zappa’s “Pygmy Twylyte,” a tune that hadn’t been played in over a year, The Disco Biscuits moved into their newer number, “Why We Dance,” before following up with “We Like to Party.” The completely segued set continued with an inverted rendition of “Crickets,” which flowed into the final song of the night’s initial frame, which consisted of just the end of “Morph Dusseldorf.”

Following a set break, the jammers returned to the stage for a debut of “To Be Continued.” Then, with the audience’s attention glued to the stage, the quartet ripped into their follow-up, “Twisted in the Road,” which ran into an inverted “Portal To An Empty Head.” The night’s second set continued with “M-1” before the final number of the set “Basis For A Day.”

After a brief break from the stage, the group returned for their encore, which began with the second half of “Morph Dusseldorf,” a song that the band started during Saturday’s initial frame. Then, The Disco Biscuits ended their stand in Beantown by returning to fan favorite “Twisted in the Road” for the final number of the night.

After Saturday night’s memorable appearance, The Disco Biscuits will pop up in Stroudsburg, Pa., this evening for a one-night stand at the Sherman Theater. Tickets remain on sale and can be purchased here
