The Flaming Lips have embraced the socially-distant era, extending frontman Wayne Coyne’s famous performance orb to an entire Oklahoma City venue for a two-night run.

The performances hit a speed bump in December 2020 as COVID-19 cases rose, but managed to safely take place on Jan. 22/23 for an encased crowd of 100 bubbles (each bubble fit up to three people).

Highlights from the Jan. 22 show included the live debut of “Flowers of Neptune 6” off the band’s 2020 LP American Head, as well as a cover of the late Daniel Johnston‘s “True Love Will Find You in the End.”

The band also pulled off a similar, smaller bubble shows whilst performing on The Late Show as well as an IRL event in October.

The Flaming Lips were also featured in the September 2020 issue of RelixRead that article here.
