On Sunday, Oct. 18, Dave Matthews played a solo acoustic set as part of the Save Our Stages Fest, a three-day virtual benefit concert to rally support for independent venues across the country. The benefit raised money for the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA).

Matthews streamed his set live from Charlottesville, Va.’s Jefferson Theater. This marked Matthews’ first performance at the venue since December of 1993.

“Oh” kicked off Matthews’ 30-minute set, followed by classics “Bartender” and “Gravedigger.” Matthews, always impressive as a solo acoustic act, built “Gravedigger” into a powerful crescendo. He then moved into “Singing from the Windows,” followed by “Save me.”

Matthews then debuted a brand new song, titled “The Ocean and the Butterfly.” After the debut, he closed up the set with a powerful “Some Devil.”
