Bassnectar (Lorin Ashton) announced on his social media that he will be stepping away from his career amid sexual misconduct allegations against him.

“I am stepping back from my career and I am stepping down from my position of power and privilege in this community because I want to take responsibility and accountability,” Ashton wrote.

The statement comes only a few days after the Instagram account @evidenceagainstbassnectar was created. “All content posted has been collected from public platforms and submitted by many individuals,” reads the account’s bio.

Bassnectar denied the allegations in his most recent statement (“The rumors you are hearing are untrue”); however, this did not stop him from stepping away from his career and “handing off” control of his non-profit endeavor, Be Interactive.

Earlier this week, Bassnectar posted another, lengthier statement which, while not directly addressing the allegations, alluded to them. He stated he would spending teh summer “examining my privilege and opening my communication to people from my past with whom I had an intimate relationship.”
