On Jan. 11, Trey Anastasio Band played their second of two tour-opening shows at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. During the first set, the band busted out “Acting The Devil” and performed a new song, “Silver Light.”

The show began with “Everything’s Right” followed by “Cayman Review.” Next came a performance of “Acting The Devil,” which was last played on May 6, 2017 in Michigan. After “Alive Again” and “Sometime After Sunset,” TAB debuted a new original song, “Silver Light.” Next came “Mozambique,” followed by “Ocelot” and “Curlew’s Call.” A spirited rendition of “Rise/Come Together” closed the set.

“Burlap Sack and Pumps” opened the second set, featuring some incredible interplay between Anastasio and saxophonist James Casey. Next, TAB opted for “46 Days,” which saw Anastasio deliver an energetic solo. In fact, he played with such power that he broke a string on his Languedoc guitar, a rare occurrence to be sure.

The jazz-tinged “Magilla” followed, before TAB dropped into fan-favorite “Sand.” After the rocking version, Anastasio cooled down with the emotional “A Life Beyond The Dream.” After a trio of “Liquid Time,” “Heavy Things” and “Traveler,” TAB delivered another highlight of the set: “Mr. Completely.” The version featured ripping solos from Casey, keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, trumpet player Jennifer Hartswick and trombonist Natalie Cressman. It seemed that “Mr. Completely” would close the set, but Anastasio forged on, treating fans to “Dark and Down” and “First Tube.”

The encore consisted of “Brief Time” from Anastasio’s Ghosts of the Forest project, followed by the TAB classic “Push On ‘Til the Day.”
