The Jerry Garcia Foundation has released a new globaly-minded compilation, Annapurna’s Song, Music of the Himalayas.

The compilation features 12 tracks of music from the Himalayan region, including one tune with guest guitarist Jerry Garcia.

All proceeds from Annapurna’s Song (named for a mountain in Nepal) will benefit the American Himalayan Foundation, which was founded in 1981 by climbers to help with the education, healthcare and other opportunities available to those in Nepal and the Himalayan region.

Garcia’s guitar can be heard on “Clouds,” a composition by Indian musician Sanjay Mishra. The track was recorded in 1995 at the Grateful Dead’s California studio, Club Front, and originally appeared on Mishra’s album Blue Incantation.

Additional artists on the release include Misty Terrace, Shyam Nepali, Phosphenes, Tenzin Namgyal, Jerusha Rai, Sofiyum, Alif, Kutumba, Bartika Eam Rai, Sajjan Raj and Choying Drolma & Steve Tibbetts.
