After recreating their debut LP at The Capitol Theatre, My Morning Jacket played their final scheduled show of 2019 at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday night, offering a single set brimming with live favorites.

Warpaint provided support for the evening, and as My Morning Jacket took the stage around 7:30 p.m. the summer sun still hung bright in the sky. The band opened with “Compound Fracture” off their most recent studio LP – 2015’s The Waterfall – and later offered classics like “I’m Amazed,” “Mahgeetah” and “Evil Urges.”

The “setting sun” lyric in “Victory Dance” was particularly appropriate as Forest Hills Stadium grew darker, and the band’s light show gained intensity with every passing song.

From “Circuital” to “Off The Record” to “Spring (Among The Living)” several eras and albums of My Morning Jacket were represented onstage at Forest Hills, and by the time the band put forth the set-closing “Phone Went West,” the packed crowd was bursting with energy.

“So good to be back here. So good to be back in this beautiful place,” frontman Jim James said before the band jumped into their four-part encore, which started with “Wordless Chorus.”

Following both parts of “Touch Me I’m Going To Scream,” My Morning Jacket closed their last show for the foreseeable future with the always-masterful “One Big Holiday.”
