My Morning Jacket returned to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, on Friday night for the third installment of their four-show summer 2019 schedule, which follows a hiatus from the stage of over a year and began last weekend at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Last night’s gig was billed as a celebration of MMJ’s 1999 debut, The Tennessee Fire, and featured a complete performance of that LP and more.

The show marked the third time the band has performed the record in full; they also performed it at New York’s Terminal 5 in 2010 as part of a run of complete albums and again at their 2018 One Big Holiday destination event in the Dominican Republic, where they began their hiatus by performing all their studio albums in full over the course of the multi-day gathering.

As with the T5 show, Jacket filled their Friday encore with covers and b-sides associated with their early, Tennessee Fire era. It included their take on Elton John’s “Rocket Man” (which they hadn’t played since Oct. 28, 2016), the early original “Weeks Go By Like Days” (not played since Oct. 18, 2010), their cover of Erykah Badu’s “Tyrone” (not played since Oct. 27, 2016) and the Heartbreakin’ Man EP cut “Tonite I Want to Celebrate With You” (not played since Oct. 25, 2015).

Check out the full setlist below, along with some fan-shot video from the performance, and see more photos from last night here. My Morning Jacket will return to Queens, NY’s Forest Hills Stadium this evening to close out their summer 2019 run.
