Jojo Hermann is taking his Slim Wednesday band on the road in late February/early March, and the group has just announced that the Widespread Panic keyboardist will offer “a rare special solo set” to kick off each night.

Slim Wednesday’s Mardi Gras tour will kick off on Feb. 28 in Washington DC with special guests Brass-A-Holics and will continue on to Baltimore and Ardmore, Penn. (on March 1 and 5 respectively, with support by the Billy Walton Band).

Finally the tour will wrap up on Fat Tuesday – March 5 – with a gig at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl.

Each evening will also include a special tribute to New Orleans legend Professor Longhair, who would have turned 100 in 2018.

“We were a Professor Longhair cover band, originally, years ago. We’d play like one gig a year on Mardi Gras,” Hermann said in 2018, describing Slim Wednesday’s origins. “We just called it the Mardi Gras Band. And then we started playin’ a little bit more. We did a Jam Cruise and I think that really lit a fire in everybody. That made us write a few songs, do a few more dates and put out a record. So we did that.”
