Foundation of Funk—the outfit led by founding members of The Meters Zigaboo Modeliste and George Porter Jr.—are already scheduled to play the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival this spring, and today the group added another show during the festival, this time with special guest bassist Oteil Burbridge.

As with their performances at LOCKN’ Festival and elsewhere in 2018, Modeliste and Porter’s Foundation of Funk’s NOLA show will also feature a trio of Dumpstaphunk members, keyboardist/vocalist Ivan Neville, guitarist Ian Neville and guitarist Tony Hall, plus some “very special guests.” The group will be continuing their celebration of 50 years of The Meters, which originally featured Ian’s father Art Neville on keys.

The performance is set for May 1 at The Fillmore New Orleans, the evening before Jazz Fest 2019’s second weekend kicks off with a Thursday featuring headliners The Rolling Stones. General ticket sales begin this Friday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. CST, with pre-sales beginning Jan. 30. More information can be found here.
