After scheduling two hometown shows in Charlottesville, Va. as part of their fall tour, Dave Matthews Band and Red Light Management have announced a $5 million donation to the area’s public housing program. A portion of profits from the Dec. 14-15 shows will also be added to the donation.
Charlottesville has long been DMB’s home base. In September 2017, following deadly protests in the city, Matthews and company threw “An Evening of Music and Unity” at the University of Virginia, where they were notably joined by Stevie Wonder.
DMB opened their fall tour on November 28 in Ohio, and they will make their way through a number of Northeast and Mid-Atlantic cities before closing with the two Charlottesville shows at the John Paul Jones Arena.
