Dr. John, Trombone Shorty, Irvin Mayfield, The Neville Family, Meters drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, Caesar Brothers Funkbox, The Help, Deacon John, Meters guitarist Leo Nocentelli and many others will unite in support of Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign. The all-star New Orleans Musicians for Obama event will take place at New Orleans’ Generations Hall on May 1. Other acts slated to appear include: Rockin Dopsie Jr., Bonerama, James Andrews, Cyril Neville, Dumpstaphunk, Rejected Youth Nation, Kermit Ruffins, Marcia Ball and Meters bassist George Porter Jr., among others. Several celebrity guests will also participate in the event, including Alfre Woodard. Assuming Art Neville plays with The Neville Family band slated to appear, all four founding members of The Meters and later addition are set to play the benefit.
