Former Grateful Dead keyboardist Vince Welnick will appear on both coasts in the coming months. On March 30, Welnick will join Dead-inspired California band Cubensis at Santa Ana, CAs Galaxy Theatre for his first west coast appearance in a some time. Welnick will remain with Cubensis for a number of dates throughout California until April 4. A few days later, Welnick will join longtime collaborators Gent Treadly for a series of southeast appearances beginning April 9 at St. Petersburg, FLs the Bank. With Gent Treadly drummer Tom Kaelin temporarily off the road following the birth of his first child, Dave Thomas will help keep the groups time. As some readers may remember, in the early 1990s Thomas co-founded proto-jamband Native with Gent Treadly’s Mike Jaimes.
