Indie-pop singer Sombr is currently enjoying a moment in the pop-culture spotlight and, over the weekend, the New York-bred musician used his time in the zeitgeist to share the stage with a musical hero. During his sold-out show at Inglewood, CA’s Kia Forum on Saturday, which was part of the You Are The Reason Tour, Sombr invited out singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham for his Fleetwood Mac classic “Go Your Own Way.” The cross-generational pair split lead vocals on the tune, which originally appeared on the 1977 smash LP Rumours. In addition, Sombr also brought out actor and musician Jesse Rutherford for his band The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather.”
It capped off a busy day of collaboration news for the 21-year-old musician. Earlier on Saturday, Sombr released a live version of his crossover hit “Homewrecker,” featuring Nickel Creek, Sebastian Steinberg, Abe Rounds, Elle Bramhall and Anya True. The reimagined version of the song focuses on “an intimate arrangement that places his remarkable voice and songwriting front and center.”
Up next, Sombr will perform at Oklahoma City, OK’s Paycom Center tomorrow.
