Elton John will return to Mexico City this fall. Billed as his official Farewell to Mexico performances, the shows will take place on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3 at the football stadium Estadio Banorte. These dates will be the singer and piano plays first stops in Mexico in 14 years. His initial appearance at Azteca Stadium took place 34 years ago as part of The One tour; his most recent concerts in Mexico City were pair of dates with Ray Cooper shows at Auditorio Nacional in 2012.

“Mexico City has always held a special place in my heart,” the musician said in a statement. “I was truly disappointed that the pandemic kept me from touring Latin America during my Farewell tour which makes this return especially meaningful. I’m thrilled to finally share this very special moment with my fans after all these years.”

Elton John concluded his Farewell Yellow Brick Road in Sweden on July 8, 2023. The 330-show run kicked off in 2018 and was extended several times due to the pandemic. The Rocket Man has made a handful of one-off appearances since then, mostly at private shows, benefits, award shows or other special events. He released the Andrew Watt-produced Who Believes in Angels?—a collaborative album with Brandi Carlile—last year.
