Cloud 9 Adventures has confirmed the dates for the 12th annual Closer to the Sun destination event. The immersive festival will return to Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive resort on the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, from January 9-13, 2027.
In addition to headlining performances by event host bands Slightly Stoopid and Stick Figure, who will offer three shows and two shows respectively, this year’s lineup will feature a marquee set by first-time Closer to the Sun performer Wiz Khalifa. Other confirmed acts include: Iration, SOJA, The Movement, Tribal Seeds, Little Stranger, The Hip Abduction, Surfer Girl, Algorhythm and special guest JARV. Chromeo, Cut Chemist & Chali 2na and Z-Trip will all DJ late night while Kaleo Wassman (Pepper) and Logan Rex (Artikal Sound System) will round out the musical vacation with poolside sets and yoga.
Complementing the music, Closer to the Sun will boast morning yoga led by Melanie & Kaleo Wassman (Pepper) as well as Logan Rex (Artikal Sound System), plus hands-on workshops, an annual basketball invitational and more. Closer to the Sun’s promoters also promise the return of the “neon-drenched” Light It Up theme night, a mix of adventure excursions and the ability to engage in different cultural charity initiatives.
Fans looking to give back can also link up with nonprofit organization Positive Legacy on humanitarian and environmental efforts. This year, Positive Legacy celebrates $1.5 Million in grant giving since their inception. Since 2014, Closer to the Sun guests have raised almost $500,000 to benefit local organizations, schools and environmental projects, including community gardens, extensive beach cleanups and the largest turtle sanctuary in the Yucatan’s infrastructure.
All-inclusive packages for returning Closer to the Sun guests and first timers who opted in for the pre-sale can be reserved on June 9. Remaining rooms will become available on June 10 to the general public at 1 pm ET on the Closer to the Sun website.
