Oasis’ Live ‘25 reunion tour has been the subject of feverish speculation since it was first teased, leaked and confirmed in August of last year, with further updates rolling out with that same hectic rhythm since. Today, the band has shared one central detail that never made it to the rumor mill: the high-demand world tour will be captured for audiences everywhere in a documentary film.

Oasis’ yet untitled behind the scenes tour documentary will come to light from an all-star team of storytellers. The project is billed as “a film by Steven Knight,” with the screenwriter and director of such triumphs as Peaky Blinders and Eastern Promises signed on to produce. The director’s chair will be shared by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, whose proven track-record for outstanding music films includes the 2012 LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up And Play The Hits and 2022’s Meet Me in the Bathroom, the widely acclaimed film adaptation of the indie sleaze bible of the same name.

Other participants in the project include production from Magna Studios, the team that brought on Spike Jonze’s visionary Beastie Boys Story in 2020 to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary. The project will be distributed by Sony Music Vision. That’s about all we know now, given how far ahead the film has been announced from its undated release. Here’s hoping the famously fractious band doesn’t call it quits early–or, at the very least, that whatever unfolds on the road makes for a good story.

Yesterday, March 12, NME revealed the members of the band that will be backing the Gallaghers on Oasis’ comeback run–bassist Andy Bell, guitarists Gem Archer and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and drummer Joey Waronker–per “sources close to the band and reunion tour.” Liam Gallagher replied on Twitter, “NME tell me who your source pots are that keep giving you info about OASIS and I’ll give you an exclusive interview about up n coming OASIS tour you can have it all but how much do you want it LG x.” Still four month out from their kickoff, Oasis’ tour is already as exciting as the band promised.
