Today, Widespread Panic take a prolific year even further with the official announcement of Hailbound Queen, the storied jam ensemble’s 14th studio album. Set to release on Nov. 8, the band’s forthcoming offering arrives as a structural counterpart to Snake Oil King, which landed on June 14 as its first album in nine years. Like that project, Hailbound Queen collects some recently honed entries that have frequently figured into the road warriors’ 2024 live performances, issued here with new studio polish.
Among the familiar favorites to be featured in Hailbound Queen are “King Baby,” “Halloween Face” and “Blue Carousel,” which the band has been working up onstage since the beginning onf the year and shared as a single in July. Other entries include covers of Warren Zevon’s “Keep Me in Your Heart” and Bloodkin’s “Trashy,” the latter of which the band will debut live via KMTN Mountain Radio on Fish’s Morning Show at 8:15 a.m. MT this Friday, Aug. 30. While no full tracklist has been shared yet, assumptions about the album’s length might be framed against the six-track cycle of Snake Oil King.
Hailbound Queen will release both digitally and on a limited-edition orange vinyl pressing. For more information on the band and its forthcoming album, stay tuned to widespreadpanic.com.
